Some superfoods are known for their ability to aid in healing. Here are just a few.
Chaga mushrooms are associated with anti-cancer activity.
Goji berries have powerful anti-oxidant and anti-inflammatory effects.
Curcumin–the active compound–in turmeric also has anti-oxidant and anti-inflammatory effects.
But that doesn't mean we should all have Chaga tea with goji berries and turmeric three times a day.
While in specific situations a particular superfood or supplement can be very useful, a much more powerful approach is the steady practice of what we do every day. We like to say that the most powerful "supplement" and superfood is an array of whole foods, especially fruits and vegetables, eaten daily.
If we are "eating the rainbow," which means eating a full range of colors of fruits and vegetables, we will be getting a variety of nutrients. This is incredibly powerful because those nutrients are coming in their natural packaging, along with fiber, and without other additives that are needed for drug delivery in the case of most supplements. This approach is also more practical, more financially feasible, and safer over time. Because of this, we do not say that there are any particular superfoods or supplements that we approve. The right foods are by themselves super, and all foods are super when used in balance.
