Power lives at the union of mind and matter

Power lives first at the intersection, and then at the union, of mind and matter. Therefore, the best way to render people powerless is to convince them that mind and matter are two different things and nearly unrelated. Even better, exploring consciousness and its possible relationship to, or even origination of matter, should be pseudoscience or woo. When otherwise intelligent people with advanced degrees believe this and profess it to others, it will ensure that our educational systems effectively teach powerlessness while dressing it up in salaried garments.

Thus, we create a situation in which those considered ignorant are the ones who are truly open-minded and educated, and the ones who are formally educated tend to be the ones blissfully unaware of their ignorance. Should this education be threatened, it will be vigorously defended in the name of a limited science, usually one that believes that truth can only be known by eliminating subjectivity, which couldn't possibly be anything but bias.

Thus, we will have a society forever endeavoring to bridge the mind-body divide, spirituality-science divide, ourselves and the world, until one day, when we question who made us believe that there were two such things to begin with, and whether those people are truly the ones who are knowledgeable, courageous, and living with the fullness of meaning, love, and vision overflowing in their lives.
